"The UN Security Council (...)unanimously approved a French-American resolution to end the month-long fighting in Lebanon and deploy 15,000 UN troops to stabilize the southern part of the country.
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan was tasked with working out an exact timetable for ending hostilities with the governments of Lebanon and Israel. Annan said he would be in touch with both sides this weekend.
The resolution calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities between the Israeli military and Hizbollah guerillas followed by the deployment of 15,000 Lebanese troops along with the UN force to southern Lebanon to wrestle control of the region away from the Shiite militant group.
Under the resolution, Israeli forces will withdraw from Lebanon as the international force and Lebanese troops take their positions.
Israel and the Lebanese government, which communicates with Hizbollah, have agreed to the resolution and are expected to approve it at cabinet meetings over the weekend."

OK , an agreement may be reached this weekend between Israel and Lebanon . So what ? Lebanon has not been able to control Hezbollah for years , who thinks they can do so now with the help of 15,000 U N troops ? The success of U N Peacekeeping forces is suspect as it is , and even less successful in Southern Lebanon . They sometimes appeared to be fraternizing with Hezbollah , though that may have been a ploy by the terrorists to draw fire from Israel in order to damage the peacekeeping effort .
I don't see much result coming from this agreement , it is not designed to disarm Hezbollah , only to keep them from obtaining more armament , something no one has been able to do to this day .
