Do you get tired of shooting the same things over and over? I do, and since I am freelance, I have the luxury of shooting when, where, and what I like.
WHAT IS MIKSANG?
Miksang is a Tibetan word meaning "good eye." It represents a form of contemplative photography in which the eye is synchronized with the contemplative mind and heart. The result of this particular perception combined with photography, produces an open way of seeing the world. Miksang photography tends to bring the observer back into the original contemplation state of the author of the photo. These photos can bring one back to a purer perception of reality that is often neglected. Miksang involves nothing fancy, no special setup; only a visual capture, in the proper state of mind, of everyday's reality.

Ansel Adams is widely regarded as one of the most famous photographers of all time, particularly in reference to his striking images of the American wilderness. Adams placed great value upon technical mastery of his craft, carefully evaluating gradations of light in the image, manipulating degree of exposure, and constantly experimenting with new techniques. Along with contemporaries Imogen Cunningham and Edward Weston, Adams founded the group f/64, devoted to what they termed “straight photography,” as opposed to staged or embellished images. Adams was also pivotal in the establishment of the Department of Photography at the Museum of Modern Art.

I shoot photos at all of our museum society meetings and often get some good stuff of my own. These were shot in RAW and converted to jpegs.

I recently joined a photo challenge site- PIXOTO and have had some success with some of my images.

Got up early for  a doctor appointment only to find it was cancelled, so I went out and found some scenes to photograph.
These are at an old dairy that has been closed for years. The barn is sliding down.

This is my entry in a contest at The Great Photo Race , subject- Cloud formations in greyscale. Photo taken outside the office in Pasadena, Texas.

 
A mix of old and new. So much stuff has been added to these old buildings over the years! They were built between 1895 and 1904 in Alvin, Texas. One of these doors led to the local pool hall that we as teenagers would sneak into by the back door so town folks wouldn't see us and tell our parents!

I worked on the shot in Picnik to get a grainy feel, like old B&W film.

The next book I will read. Have a vacation next week and part of the time will be spent relaxing and reading. It is uncertain what our future holds, but I bet Sarah Palin is plowing her path to another run at office, most likely President. Despite all the negatives thrown around by the Left, I don't see much that would disqualify her for the job. Has more political experience than Obama.
