Old shed wall

Some images just beg to be rendered in sepia.

Photo from last week

As I passed an antique store, I caught a glimpse of an old mirror leaning against the wall. The mirror didn't interest me, but the reflection did. Around the block I went, and captured this shot.

Flying Flip-flop

The challenge of the week on Photos is to shoot an object suspended. Here is one of my entries. Took about 5 tries to capture it.

Adding to the family

Our "daughter", Shelley has married Chris Farmer. Here they are with the 2 kids, Bret and Taylor Bush. Now Shelley is pregnant, so there will be another grandkid in the family!

Another bridge

This is a bridge on one of the hiking trails at Brazos Bend State Park, near Needville, Texas.

My wife, grandson, and I spent Sunday there, hiking and watching birds and alligators, the major attraction, and we did see at least a dozen of various sizes.

Brazos Bend State Park

Went out to Brazos Bend this morning to see some alligators. We were fortunate enough to see a dozen or so. More pictures will be posted on PapawsImages .

Tool Talk

My tool forum is down at the moment. We have been making changes to Papawswrench and made some coding errors that caused a disconnect to Tool Talk. If anyone cares, be assured that it will be back up as soon as possible.
Papawswrench is being updated with new wrenches, sold wrenches archived, and new pictures to come soon. Papawswrench will also have Paypal buttons and a shopping cart in the near future, and will be easier to navigate. My nephew, James Goodman, is doing the upgrading and will have a link there for those who may need web development in the future.

In addition, both 67-72chevytrucks.com and Streetcruizin.com are experiencing outages as a result of a fire in the building housing their servers. They also will be back soon.

Bridges

I seem to find bridges everywhere. These three are all within a few miles of home, and I revisit them often.

Photo forum

The Friendly Photo Forum I am part of has a weekly challenge to do some different kind of shot each week to help us learn more about photography. This week's challenge was to do a little "trick" photography with our cameras, without Photoshop.
One entry in particular is interesting. Katiblue showed us her son Kyle's "little" brother.

I used a little Lego man to look like he was VERY strong.

Human Statue of Liberty

This is an amazing photo! 18,000 soldiers and officers forming a Statue of Liberty at Camp Dodge in Iowa, in 1918.
We could use more of this kind of patriotism today.

Fred Hartman Bridge

How about this view of the bridge cables?

Swap meet

I spent a few hours at Houston Raceway Park at a swap meet, and visiting with some friends from 67-72chevy.com . This Photoshow is most of the people and things that caught my eye.

Leaf-footed bug

We call these Stink-bugs around here, but they are Lepto-glossus Oppositus. This one likes to crawl on a Bromeliad in our back yard.

Valentine

Hope all were treated well on Valentine's Day this year.
My daughter's Malti-Poo thought she should have some chocolate. The 3 pound chocolate heart is about her weight!

Pictures from the past

One of me in Tanzania in 1968, after a long trek across the Serengeti, and one from about 1976 with a 1949 Harley Panhead I used to own.

Playing around

Shot pics of an old '47 Dodge truck, but it was patched and primered, so I fiddled with the image.

Then I did a sepia rendition of the old Santa Fe Depot in Alvin, Texas.

Friendly Photo Forum

Some good friends from Canada and the US have gotten together on a very friendly forum to share pictures of family, friends, and places. Photos is new and small, but would like more members, so take a look and see if you want to join up. We are of diverse photographical abilities from beginners to accomplished photogs, but not judgemental, just appreciate each others' work.
Photos has a weekly challenge ongoing that challenges members to go out and shoot a certain type of shot or subject. A poll is posted each week, and the winner names the next challenge. Very informal and fun.

New photos

Here are two shots from a visit to Camp Mohawk in Alvin, Texas. The lake pic was dull in color, so I rendered it in B&W, and I like it much better.

Some new Pictures

A nice sunset taken in Liverpool, Texas
Some stuff I posed for fun
Clashing colors lined up
Kale, a cabbage-like ground plant used by landscapers.
Since Christmas, I have taken a lot of pictures, but as usual, only a few should ever be shown to the public!
